Autumn Term - 2020

Hi everyone,
The Autumn term has been very busy in Porthcothan Class. We have settled back into school after a very different start to the year and have learnt many new things.
We kicked the year off by looking at the book 'Here We Are'. From this book, we learnt about all the things that make us who we are, the differences between people and lots about the world around us. We then moved into our topic 'Me' where we continued this learning.
In History, we looked at the past, present and future where we really enjoyed looking at our baby pictures and thinking about how we have changed. We also loved thinking about the things we might like to do in the future.
In Science, we have learnt lots about our bodies and senses. We also discovered that some drinks are very bad for our teeth when we soaked egg shells in them. The orange squash definitely surprised lots of us.
During the second half term, we have spent lots of time looking at the season Autumn and how nature changes during Autumn. We have also spent lots of time looking at Cornwall. We have loved looking at maps and finding different places near St Columb.
During Literacy, we have written lots of amazing sentences around our two stories (Supertato and Little Red Riding Hood). Whilst in Maths, we have done some amazing work learning about place value, addition and subtraction.
It has been a great term and we are all looking forward to more great learning next term.
