Autumn Term - 2020

Autumn Term Blog
What an amazing return to school it has been. We are very proud of the children. They have settled back in to school life brilliantly.
In Maths this term we have focused on numbers up to 10, understanding exactly what each number means, what it looks like and then using them to add and take away. We have now started to look closely at numbers up to 20. Everyday we count from 0-100 and 100 back to 0. The children are getting very good at this. We have also looked at 3D and 2D shapes the children were great at naming all the different shapes.
In Literacy we learnt the story of Supertato and wrote character descriptions. Then we looked at instructions and wrote our own instructions for dressing for winter and staying safe on bonfire night. Recently we have learnt the story of Little Red Riding Hood. The children were all great at retelling the story with actions and lots of enthusiasm. We then planned our own journey stories and wrote them independently. All of the children have been working hard in RWI and are remembering lots of sounds.
In Art we designed and made our own puppets using split pins. We then made clay tiles that the children brought home, this was lots of fun.
We have been looking at the Geography of our local environment and thinking about where we live.
In History we have learnt what the past, present and future mean. We looked at how we have changed since we were babies. It has been a very full, exciting and enjoyable term!
