Autumn Term - 2020

Autumn Term in Fistral Class
It certainly has been a jam packed term since we returned to school in September. We began our year with a focus on Well-being and did lots of lovely activities based on the story 'Here We Are'. We talked about our feelings and what Lockdown was like for us. We all agreed that it was great to be back at school with our friends and teachers.
After 2 weeks we started our new topic 'Nocturnal Animals. We learnt about all different types of nocturnal animals and created our own animal homes. We visited Forest School and thought about what the animals might need for shelters over there.
In Literacy, we focused on letter formation and writing our own version of Fantastic Mr Fox. We had to think about how to describe the characters so we learnt lots of new and exciting adjectives to do this.
In Maths, our focus was place value. We used lots of concrete resources to help us with tens and ones and soon we became place value experts!
In the second half of the term our topic was 'The Great Fire of London'. Mrs Milsom was very excited as this is her favourite topic to teach. We learnt lots of good facts and wrote amazing letters to King Charles II asking for help to stop the fire. We have designed Tudor buildings and after the Christmas holidays we will be creating our very own 'Great Fire' over at the Fire Station.
In Maths, we have focused on addition and subtraction and have been learning some super whizzy ways to work out the problems we have been given.
Our PE lessons have been lots of fun and we have enjoyed being outside in the fresh air. For the past few weeks we have been to Forest School and made Tree Guardians and created pictures of the Great Fire using natural materials. It has been lots of fun but a little chilly too!
