Mrs Marie Taylor
Mrs Marie Taylor took up appointment as Headteacher of St Columb Major Academy in September 2017 & has a career spanning eighteen years with a long list of achievements, such as gaining ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ inspections from Ofsted and SIAMS – receiving recognition for her ability to inspire staff and improve outcomes for pupils.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two lovely children. We enjoy long walks, the beach and generally love to be outdoors. I like to run or ride my bike to unwind and run three times a week. I am hoping to do another half marathon next year. I also like to travel and have been all over the world. We tend to visit Europe now that the children are little.

I have been at St Columb Major for 3 years, but have been a teacher for 10 times that long. I have taught in many areas of the UK but also spent 6 years working in the Falkland Islands - so many penguins! Outside of school I enjoy walking, especially in scenic coastal and hilly areas, and photography but in typical Cornish weather (rain) I love to curl up with a good book.

I am Miss Elliott and I teach on Thursdays and Fridays. I am a fun and energetic teacher, who tries to make sure learning is always fun. I am also a very good listener, so if you have worries or concerns, do not be afraid to come and talk to me. In my spare time I enjoy painting and used to be a children's book illustrator. I am also very sporty and love to go surfing at the weekends. The best day for me would be spending a whole day on the beach, sea swimming and spending time with my friends and family.

My name is Mrs Blown and I teach on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I have been teaching for over twenty years. I like to make the learning in our class as much fun as possible. I am a good listener so if you have any worries or problems I am happy to listen and help. I enjoy readin and especially enjoy story time at the end of the day. I have two children of my own a daughter who is 12 and a son who is 9. Iove spending time with them especially going to the beach and swimming in the sea.

Hi, my name is Mr Cameron, I love all sports but golf is definitely my favourite. I started skiing at your age and have been on plenty of ski holidays since. I love the mountains and skiing; it is really exciting but also very peaceful. Outside of golf, skiing and teaching, I am very busy helping my fiancee to plan our wedding; it's very exciting!

I am Mrs Milsom and I teach on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week. I love visiting the beach with my family and 2 dogs. Fistral is my favourite beach (of course!). I really enjoy reading and in my spare time, I like to go swimming. We have lots of exciting topics to learn about in Y2 and I try to make if lots of fun.

My name is Mrs Snook. I have a little boy called Herbie who is 1 and a half, a dog call Teddy, a cat called Toots and 3 chickens. In my spare time I like to walk Teddy on the beach, go running and play all kinds of sport like netball, tennis and golf. I also enjoy going on adventures with Herbie and Teddy exploring new places. Recently, I have taken up a new hobby of modern calligraphy (which is basically posh handwriting!)

I am Mr Osborne, I have taught in lots of year groups, but love teaching Year 3. When not at school I spend most of my time taking my two boys to all of their sports clubs. They are in Year 4 and Year 7 this year. I have 2 springer spaniel dogs call Snitch and Quaffle who love going for walks in the woods and on the beach with the rest of the family.

My name is Miss Drake, I have lived in Cornwall all my life and feel very privileged to as well. I have a cat called Evie and even though I try to teach her things, she definitely rules my house! I absolutely love the coast and everything to do with it; the beaches, the landscapes (with the tin mines) and especially the wildlife. I have a marine biology degree and enjoy sharing my knowledge. I also enjoy listening to music as well playing the trumpet.

My name is Mrs Christophers and I live in Newquay with my husband, two children and loopy spaniel. I enjoy long walks across the beach and along our stunning coast. I love paddle boarding on the River Gannel and rediscovering the simplicity and enjoyment of running. As many of you know, music has always been a huge part of my life, both making music and listening to it. I've been teaching for many years at St Columb Major.

This is my third year teaching in Year 5 after many years working in our younger year groups. I like to be imaginative and original in my lessons and try to bring energy and enthusiasm to every day. I enjoy teaching outdoors , participating in PE and teaching creative writing. I work hard to make Tolcarne look a bright and engaging place to learn. I do tend to sing a lot!

I love PD, particularly football, which is my favourite sport. I also enjoy any outdoor activity such as walking the coastline and cycling.
